What goes up must come down. That is a fact! So when I push myself too hard physically, or more specifically when I train too hard, deal with a stomach flu and don't eat enough... I am going to crash down... more specifically day dream, crave, fantasize, barter, negotiate with my myself all about.... ice cream! High calorie, high fat, high sugar food... fit for the Gods! Perfect for re balancing the "extreme up". Now comes the crash. So what do I do ?...
I cave! I know, you wouldn't expect it from me. But what can I do? I need to nip this is the bud before I start seeing my kids as mirages of walking little ice cream cones and try to eat them. I sent Mark out to buy the most delicious, natural ice cream I can think of: Haagen Dazs.

| It also needs to be noted that Mark bought himself a giant tub of cookies and cream ice cream and the very very strange thing is that it has about half the calories, half the fat, and only 13g of sugar per same serving size.!!! What is that? Then I looked at the ingredients.
Ingredients:
Cream, Modified Milk Ingredients, Glucose, Sugar, Creme Filled Chocolate Cookies (sugar, wheat flour, vegetable oil [soybean, palm and/or palm kernel oils], cocoa, corn flour, salt, baking soda, dextrose, soya lecithin, natural flavour), Mono and Diglycerides, Locust Bean Gum, Cellulose Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Natural and Artificial Flavour.
So what do you think??? Interesting isn't it how the more natural ice cream seems worse for you... But is it really? I still choose natural and clean over the ingredient laden version. I will however eat way less in my bowl, my tiny little bowl... and eat it with one of the baby spoons, so I can really savor it!
nb: Does anyone have an suggestions for when the weather gets stinking hot, homemade frozen yogourt??? - coffee flavour? I know I can make my own "banilla". Please post your homemade "healthy" ice cream recipes (or frozen yogourt) I would love to try them :) thank you! |
