Yay for Greek Yogurt!

I was really concerned yesterday about how I would stick to eating clean while at a restaurant, and a buffet to boot.  Of course it's Mark's favorite restaurant.  I know this should be about him, but my favorite restaurant is Tea at the White House and my second favorite is the little restaurant at Dundurn Castle that serve 1850's fare.  I love that.  Oh right, getting back to the super.  It did work out fine, I watched my portions, got them to make me a steamed veggie and shrimp stir fry with only garlic to flavour it, but it was soo yummy.  I had lots of healthy salads and greens and only a small amount of desert.  Plus it helps that they also seem to pre cut the deserts in small pieces.  I did splurge and got a mixed berry and cranberry booze smoothy.  Tosca Reno would say that was ok since it's a celebration.  I believe that if she had been judging me she would have approved, so that's good enough for me.

I'm not sure you'll believe this but I was still hungry again a few hours later and went for the bowl of hot yogurt and berries, tonight though I added chopped spinach and a handful of pumpkin seeds.   What a great addition, I knew I loved pumpkin seeds but they are so good with berries and greek yogurt.  Did you know that greek yogurt is strained 3 times rather than twice like regular yogurt, that means it is thicker and creamier (even the no fat version is like whipped cream).  It has more protein and probiotics, but because of the straining process some of the calcium is also removed.  Since I take a calcium supplement I'm not overly worried about this but I just wanted to give a thumbs up to one of my powerfoods.  Greek Yogurt!!! Plus less sodium than plain yogurt.  You can replace sour cream with greek yogurt or use it as a base for creamy dressings (I use it to make egg salad or a strawberry salad dressing in the summer).   This is the one I get at Longo's every week.  I love it!

Here is the recipe for the egg salad (the Clean version), I sub greek yogurt for the cottage cheese, I would say my version is even better!
